When you visit us for an appointment, an assessment will be made by our Physiotherapist. The assessment involves; functional movement, balance, co-ordination, strength, endurance, sensation, alterations of muscle tone and gait, impact of injury or disability, return to work and other physical abilities. 


Active treatment and education are used to restore movement, reduce pain and manage fatigue. The modalities used for treatments are; Laser, Ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TNS) and Functional Electrical Nerve Stimulation (FES). Mobilization, Craniosacral Therapy, Acupressure, Conn   ective Tissue Massage and Stretching are usually performed manually by the Physiotherapist. Special private treatments such as pelvic floor physiotherapy are also available.


TMJ (TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT) THERAPY 

The TMJ is a complicated joint that usually involves a coordinated approach involving several health disciplines. Our Physiotherapists assess the biomechanical function of the jaw and subsequent treatments are directed at restoring normal joint motion. This evaluation will also help to determine the extent to which the cervical spine and its associated muscles are impacting TMJ. 


NEURO REHABILITATION 

Individualized goals are determined upon intake to the program and reassessed throughout treatment. This program provides maximal functional recovery for patients with a broad range of neurological impairments 


BALANCE AND VERTIGO THERAPY 

Dizziness and imbalance are common complaints heard by family physicians. Sometimes dizziness and imbalance are caused by disease, recent medications or injury affecting the inner ear and/or its connections to the brain. Our Physiotherapists with specialized training in Vestibular Rehabilitation can help restore the balance through rehab.

SPINAL STABILIZATION 

Physiotherapy of the spine involves an initial evaluation of the patient to determine the nature of the dysfunction and to what extent the patient can assist in their recovery. Manual therapy and mobilization of the spinal joints and tissues, accompanied by appropriate exercises are designed to restore normal biomechanical motion in the spinal segments. Treatment is individualized and tailored to each patient’s unique needs with the ultimate goal of achieving independence. 


MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT RECOVERY (MVA) 

Our clinic provides complete assessment and treatment programs for patients who have been involved in work or motor vehicle accidents. This includes reports to insurance companies and physicians, as well as regular reassessments so that the patient can be progressed through to a full recovery in an optimal time period. 


WORK RELATED INJURY (WCB) 

An initial assessment focusing on functional limitations as it relates to the patients pre-injury job description.
